The Humble petition of
Robert Kelly Kermode of the town of
Castletown chemist & Margaret 
Eleanor Kermode his wife

Sheweth
That Edward Creer of Riverside
in the town of Ramsey departed this
life on or about the 23rd day of November 1889
having first duly made and published 
his Last Will and Testament in making
whereof he appointed petitioner Robert Kelly
Kermode executor.
That petitioner Robert Kelly Kermode
is desirous of obtaining probate of the
said Last Will and Testament
wherefore petitioners pray a hearing
thereof and that you Honor
may be pleased to grant us
probate of the last Will & Testament
of the said Edward Creer &
petitioner Robert Kelly Kermode
and petitioners will pray etc etc

Ordered that this petition do come to be 
heard before me at a Court to be holden
at Ramsey on Monday the 2nd day of
December 1889.
Whereof all proper persons and parties
are to have due notice.
Given this 2 day of December 1889

This is the Last Will and Testament of
me Edward Creer of the Town of Ramsey
retired stone cutter. I revoke all former
testamentary instruments by me made.
I direct that all my just debts, funeral
and testamentary expenses be paid by
my Executor hereinafter named out of
my Personal Estate as soon as the same
can conveniently be done after my
decease. I devise and bequeath to the 
Trustees of the property of the Wesleyan
Methodist Society of Castletown Isle Of Man
the sum of Five hundred pounds sterling
wherewith to purchase or build a 
suitable Dwelling House for the Principal
or Superintendent Wesleyan Methodist 
Minister of Castletown aforesaid to reside
in thenceforth further. I devise and bequeath
to the Wesleyan Methodist Foreign Missionary
Society the sum of One hundred pounds
sterling and the receipt of any authorized
Treasurer of the said Society in this Island
shall be a sufficient discharge to my Executor
for the payment of the same. I devise and 
bequeath to the Trustees of the Ramsey Wesleyan
Methodist Chapel Property the sum of Two
hundred pounds sterling to be applied towards
building a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in North
Ramsey (know generally as the Sandy Road
District) provided always that if the building
of such Chapel shall not have been commenced
within one year of probate of my Will shall
have been granted then and in such case I 
direct that the said Sum of Two hundred pounds
shall be applied by my Executor towards discharging
the mortgage affecting the Wesleyan Methodist
Chapel Property in Castletown aforesaid. In the
event of there being in my service and 
employment a responsible female servant and
Housekeeper who shall up to the time of my decease
have properly and to the satisfaction of my
Executor carefully, and faithfully, discharged
her duty as Housekeeper and attendant upon 
me and my household up to the time of my
decease as aforesaid, then and in such case
I direct that my said Executor shall give
to such person the sum of Fifty pounds sterling
as remuneration and gift to her for such attention
and service as aforesaid. I devise and bequeath
to my friend Edward Christian of Ramsey Stone Cutter
my Silver Watch and chain. I devise and bequeath
to my Sister Eleanor my Parlour Clock my Gold
Watch and Chain and one set of my Gold-framed
spectacles and to my sister Esther my Clock on the
Staircase and my other set of Gold-framed spectacles.
I direct that all the foregoing Legacies shall be
paid and handed over to the several Legatees by
my Executor as soon after my decease as the
same can conveniently be done. As to the
remainder of my Real and Personal Estate after
settlement of the foregoing, I direct that my Executor
hereinafter named shall hold the same in trust and
pay over the annual proceeds thereof to my sisters
Eleanor and Esther in equal moieties during their
joint lives and the whole of such proceeds to 
the survivor of them for the term of her natural 
life and at and upon the decease of the
survivor of my sisters aforesaid or upon my decease
should I survive them then the following
distribution of my Estate Real and Personal so
held as aforesaid shall come into operation and
take effect. I devise and bequeath to my nephew
John Creer the sum of Two hundred pounds sterling
and to my nephew Edward Creer the like sum
of Two hundred pounds sterling and the small 
Estate of Lands and Premises called “Dubrenny”
in the Parish of Lezayre to hold to him the said
Edward Creer his Heirs and Assigns absolutely
for ever. I devise and bequeath to my niece Sarah
L Stowell daughter of James and Sarah Stowell
his wife of Castletown the sum of One hundred
pounds sterling. I leave devise and bequeath
the sum of One thousand pounds sterling to be
equally divided to and amongst my surviving
nephews and nieces children of Robert Kelly
Kermode and Margaret his wife of Castletown
aforesaid. I nominate and appoint the Said
Robert Kelly Kermode of Castletown Chemist
Sole Executor of this my will and residuary
Legatee of all my Estates Real and Personal with
full discretionary power of sale as absolute
owner of all my Real Estate (other than the 
Lands and Premises of Dubrenny in Lezayre which
are hereinbefore specifically devised) so that the same
may be taken and dealt with by m Executor
for the discharge of my Liabilities and Legacies
as herein set forth and contained. Witness my
name hereto subscribed this the sixth day
of October One thousand eight hundred

The annexed paper writing
dated the 6th day of October
1888 having been proven to be
the Last Will and Testament of
Edward Creer late of Riverside
in the Town of Ramsey Stone-
Cutter deceased who died on the 
23rd day of November 1889.

therein named is Sworn well and
truly to fulfil and execute the
Same and to administer the personal
estate of the Said deceased
according to Law.

Whereas Edward Creer of Ramsey by
his will dated the 6th day of October 1888
devised the remainder of his real and
personal Estate to his executor thereinafter
in such will named to hold the same in
trust for Eleanor and Esther the sisters
of the said Edward Creer for their lives and
the life of the survivor of them and on the
decease of such survivor (inter alia) to 
divide the sum of One Thousand Pounds
equally between his surviving nephews and
nieces children of Robert Kelly Kermode and
Margaret his wife of Castletown.
And whereas the said Edward Creer
died on the 23rd day of November 1889
And whereas probate of the said will was
on the 2nd day of December 1889 granted to
Robert Kelly Kermode of Castletown Chemist
who was nominated by the said will as
executor thereof and as residuary legatee
of the estates real and personal of the said
Edward Creer.
And whereas the said Robert Kelly 
Kermode died on the 13th day of January 1900
and probate of his will dated the 27th day of
July 1885 was on the 27th day of January
1900 granted to Margaret Eleanor Kermode
his widow and William Henry Kermode
his brother whom were the executors nominated
by his said will
And whereas the said Eleanor Creer and 
Esther Creer have both now departed this life
And whereas on the decease of the said 
Edward Creer there were six surviving 
children of the said Robert Kelly Kermode viz:
Margaret wife of Smith Thomas Parr, Bertha,
Leonora, John William, Robert Kelly and
Frederick Creer
And whereas Robert Kelly Kermode
and Frederick Creer Kermode are not yet
of the age of Twenty one years
Now these presents witness that the said
Bertha Kermode, Leonora Kermode and John
William Kermode do acknowledge to have
received from the said Margaret Eleanor
Kermode and William Henry Kermode
the executors as aforesaid of the will of the
said Robert Kelly Kermode who was executor
of the Will of the said Edward Creer the sum
of One hundred and Sixty six Pounds
Thirteen Shillings and Four pence the
distributive share of each of them in the 
said One thousand Pounds so as aforesaid
bequeathed to them and they do therefore
acquit and discharge the said Margaret
Eleanor Kermode and William Henry
Kermode their executors and administrators
and the Estates of the said Robert Kelly 
Kermode and Edward Creer from any further
liability or accountability in respect thereof
In witness whereof the said Bertha
Kermode, Leonora Kermode and John William
Kermode have hereunto subscribed their names
the 3rd day of October 1901
